Setting up the bator and setting shipped eggs this week....anyone else wanna join?

No more Wyandotte's till April end..I hope. This group will be all Orpingtons and shipped BCM. I have not had god luck with them so far. I had three already that started to weep on the first day, I have three that look like they might be older eggs. I bought them off the auction for pretty cheap so I got what I paid for. I think it was under 20 for a dozen. If I get 6 out of this I will be happy.

As long as the wrong end has air it will be fine. If it does not, you need to open that pip so it can breath. After you have the hole a tiny bit larger, it will be just fine.

Perfect, it has pipped a hole to the outside, I will leave it alone to do its thing!
Vicki, is there any way to sex Wyandottes besides vent? And will their coloration change as they grow? Right now they have a wide grey stripe down their entire body and a pretty gold red on the remainder. I have noticed that all but one has a dark spot on their beak and very little comb. Whereas the chick with no dark spot on its beak has a more pronounced comb. Or am I just reading wayyyyyy too much into it?!?

So thrilled! four Wyandottes out and fluffy, my own RIR out and fluffed, three more pipped, three with nothing happening. One has pipped on wrong end. Should I be doing anything differently? Will search the threads... I am ecstatic with this hatch. Got to watch 4 hatch out thus far. Actually skyped my mom while #2&3 were hatching so she could watch from Florida! She had never seen them hathcing either, so fun to share the experience with her! Better checks my pips to see of there's any progress. And search thread for wrong end pipping. Woohoo!!!

That is so cool!!! Congrats! I have had them hatch out the wrong end my last 2 hatches with no problems! Silly things...just got their GPS turned off I guess!

Nine total now! One Wyandotte is a pretty silvery color and the last was very black with black feet. Vicki, would this be a blue Wyandotte? My two questionables I think aren't going to hatch. Once all the pipped eggs hatched I candled the leftovers. One is still moving but has not pipped internally. I hope it decides to make an appearance sometime soon but I'm headed to bed! Got up too early this morning.... With visions of chicklets running amok in my head! Good night ladies. I hope everyone had a nice weekend. :)

Took loads of pix but must download them to computer and will post tomorrow!
G'night all...

Thanks a bunch; so tickled after my first experience with too low temps. I am not discounting the last one at all! Maybe just a late bloomer :D Meant to comment earlier, your roses are spectacular! I'll bet the scent is just as wonderful! One of our neighbors has a small rosé garden. I stop by whenever I can to smell them. To me that's almost better than their beauty. Almost!

Well 2 hatched but one died. So we have Chicken Little who is a tough little bird! And is also slowly becoming a "hoodie chick". I feel so bad it's the solo baby. I did not put it out in the brooder in the garage. Chicken Little is currently set up in a nice aquarium in the extra bedroom but spends a lot of time in my hoodie.

Set another dozen mixed color wyandotte eggs Saturday and got a new thermometer. I think that was my issue. I had got the Brinsea Spot check and calibrated it but when I checked it before setting this hatch it was way off.

So sorry about your chicks
