I have a dozen seven week old chickens six each of standard size breeds and bantams. This lady is one of the standard size breeds and the only one that I can't decide what breed she might be, have a look at this photo and if you have a suggestion please let me know.

Right now she is only half grown or smaller and is smaller than this one which I'm calling a White Rock.

Jersey Giant is one of the possibilities she was in a selection of brown egg layers from Meyers Hatchery and they do sell giants. I would love to have one so I hope you are right. From what I've read on Giants they develop slowly so perhaps it is normal for her to be a bit smaller at this stage.

I just went to the hatchery website and was reading the description of the Black Australorp and now I leaning in that direction. They say until the bird is full grown they will have white tipped feathers and she has two with white tips under her tail, I think they are her wing feathers folded back.

Whatever she is she is lovely.

My JG have yellow bottom feet and some have a few white tips on their wings. Most have grown out of this. I ordered JG from Ideal Hatchery.

She looks like my most developed hen that is about 8 weeks old.
