Severely scalped young chicken, what to do?

I know this is a very old thread, but I have a girl in the same situation and I was wondering how your girl turned out?
So sorry this happened to your chicken! How is she? We can help if you need. This injury, though gruesome, is relatively common and very survivable if you can get them past the point of shock. Were you able to treat her?

I have found that chickens are very resilient, I had a coyote tear through the chain link gate and took a chicken. I did not notice that another had been injured for a few days until I saw her from a certain angle and saw a big chunk of breast meat just hanging from her. She would not let me near her, got no treatment at all and healed on her own. She has not layed an egg since though and its been 6-7 months. Hopefully in the spring she starts up again.

I had a quail who looked like that after a fight with his little brother. I ended up selling them, because I couldn't deal with the stress and was not able to keep them in separate pens. by the time my mom dropped them off at their new home, about 1.5- 2 weeks after the fight, the quail's head was almost completely healed.
