Sewandgrow's Second "Almost" Annual Friends of a Feather Poultry Party Turlock, CA May 18, 2014

Oh, that's a great idea! Dyann & I were talking about how we wish we could have talked to you more about those.

Karen, I meant to leave that sign-up sheet there for you

It is still on my clipboard, but I'll bring it with me next week.
It was cool to see the Delawares you had there. Very different from mine of course but if the combs on yours are any indication of Cockerel then I have nothing to worry about my 11.5 week girls dont have that much comb though a couple are more red than the others.

I was wondering about hackle feathers isnt there a way to tell the difference as those come in if there hasnt been a clear indication before, I was reading something somewhere about that but am now not sure if it was delawares or orpingtons or some other breed I was reading.

That's great Debi. If you did a demo I missed it. I took groups to the chickens twice so missed whatever was going on while I was gone. I missed the raffle but won a nice fingernail polish/nail art bucket for Olivia to thank her for manning the machines & all her help.......Perfect.!!!!! I am so glad I bought those machines. They were such a hit with the kids & that is just what I had hoped for.
Yes Debi, I will look forward to it.

I know we have the 31st planned in Modesto for the Poultry seminar at MJC but I was waiting to have the party taken care of to plan anything else & had hoped to pay for you and I to go to Tour De Cluck if you were up to yet another road trip but when I checked on tickets early this morning they were sold out..

We all are continually learning Chris. I was thinking it was covert feathers.....LOL I study other things on my birds trying to determine sex and it can be a guessing game for a long time on some breeds.

I was amazed at the turnout and how nice everything turned out. Not that the last one wasn't, but wow. So many people. It was great. Thank you so much Karen for opening up your home to all us crazy chicken people and thank you to all the helpers.

@caychrisChris, I'm sorry I never got those photos done to show the combs. It was a crazy week! But I knew I was bringing those Dellie babies and you could see in person what I was talking about as well as seeing Karen's adults. I'm sure you're pretty safe with your girls being girls at this point :)

Karen is so right, it is a never-ending education with these birds! But it sure is a lot of fun :). We have made a lot of friends along the way. It was nice getting to meet you.

Speaking of education, there is that class in Modesto on May 31st that a bunch of us are going to. There's a link in my signature below. It's a win-win day as it will include learning AND lunch! .)

Yes Kim THANK YOU TO ALL THE HELPERS. It could not have happened without them.

Jules thanks for remembering to post about the CLASS ON POULTRY COMING UP ON MAY 31. I don't know exactly what will be covered but am looking forward to going. I need to go back & read the info that you posted the link for & see if there is more info than I already have. Monica seemed like a very nice young lady when I talked to her the very first day they announced it. This is her first time trying it in this form I think so I suggested she post it on Facebook & BYC. I do hope she gets a good turnout.

Thanks so much for all the work karen and family and helpers!

I had a bladt im still recovering!

Loved getting to sit & chat with you guys as things were winding down. I had a great time too & thanks so much for the 2 tiny showgirls & the quail eggs. I don't know why but I think the little brown tweed one is a boy, but what do I know.....LOL. The little blue one has a clump of fur on its neck will that fall off or does that sometime happen? I know nothing about showgirls....LOL
I think Mario even got my husband to say a few words........LOL He is a really good guy & so smart, but unfortunately usually just as anti social. I was surprised to have him even come out of hiding.......LOL. He is usually holed upstairs in the barn in "his space" if I have more than 2 people here. He is such a big help to me in all I do though. After 39 years he is used to my "projects" & "people"......LOL

Thank you Karen, for opening your home and putting on such a wonderful party! AND ... thank you for the tour! You have some BIG chickens.
