Sex Link crossing

I have a two year old ISA Brown Rooster I've had for a while now. He has alot of red in him. I wanna make sex Link chickens. Could I use him with Delaware hens and create red sex links? Does he have enough red? Thanks a ton!!

For the rooster in the photo, yes, crossing him with a Delaware hen will probably produce sexlink chicks.

But I'm pretty sure he is not an ISA Brown rooster. With that much red, he is more likely to be a Production Red, or a poor-quality example of some other breed (Speckled Sussex? Rhode Island Red? The white dots are a bit wrong either way.) Or, depending on where you got him, he might be some kind of backyard mix. If both of his parents were ISA Browns, that does not make him an ISA Brown, because ISA Browns only come from a particular cross, not from breeding them to each other. The way the sexlinking works, you cannot use the sexlinks themselves to make more of that kind of sexlink.

I got him from online TSC 10 straight run ISA Brown. And the rest of his brothers looked like him too. So idk lol. He is super sweet though. Thanks!

TSC is rather known for mis-labeled chicks in the store, but I would expect the online order to be correct if they were shipped straight to you (not many chances to mix up the chicks or the labels, if they are closed into a box and sent through the mail.) So that is a bit odd. Maybe they ran short, and substituted a different kind with similar traits but not the same coloring in the males.

But no matter what he really is, I think he will work to breed sexlinks for you, and it's great that he's got a nice temperament!

Thats really great to hear! He is really sweet, and he even does his wing dance to me . He is pretty big too, about 7-8 lbs. Yeah I've heard of TSC mixing chicks up in the store. I've got these shipped to me from online. So no clue lol. I love him though!
