So far, it seems to be holding that the bearded Delaware-looking ones are girls and the chipmunk chicks are boys, though I do realize my sampling is very limited and it could be sheer coincidence. Here is the little tyke at just over 4 weeks old. Every indication is that it's a pullet, though it has some pretty long legs (not thick, however). Usually, a Delaware male will show a very pink comb by this age or at least a more arched, larger comb. Naturally, it's a bit early to be 100% sure on this kid. It has a single comb--the last pullet from that pairing had a pea comb and was a green egg layer. What do you think of Junebug?
She really is white--the reddish tint is from her dustbath-in-a-bowl that DH made for the chicks in this brooder.
