This is our 2nd attempt, the next few days should be interesting. We have 3 eggs with activity but the actual hatch day is the 3rd. So that's encouraging. This time I lowered the heat to 98 which I didn't do last time and I have the vents closed which allows the humidity to stay. I've read that you should raise the humidity to about 90% during the hatch but the best I can get is 62. Got my fingers crossed my Welsh Harlequins should be here in the next few days, so it's going to be a busy week for us.

90% is a bit to high. Shoot for 65-75%. I think it would be a good idea to keep the vents open during the hatch. Ventilation is crucial.

My problem with the vents being open is the humidity drops considerably. Is there something I'm not doing right? I heat the water before I fill, I have all the reservoirs filled right now. Also at which point should I open a vent? After the first egg is completely hatched or when they start?

Try putting a wet sponge into help the humidity. That what I do to help it. You are going to need some air in there via your vents.

I've started getting some pecked through shells, should I open a vent now or wait until at least 1 hatch. I didn't think about a sponge, I've got some guitar humidifiers which is nothing more then a special type of sponge that holds water better then a regular one. They should work fine I think. Thanks for the tip.

Add a wet sponge. Place it under one of the holes so you can add water to it with a dropper instead of opening it.

The first to arrive, a day early but we'll take him! I've decided to take them out and put them in a drying pen this year. I figure it'll give them more room to stretch and leave more room for the other's to hatch. Any thoughts? I'm new to this and always welcome advice.
