Sex- linked Information

Gold rooster over Silver hen …………..Nope
Not-barred rooster over Barred hen …………..Nope
Who knows on the feather-sexing without knowing the parents real well but not on Tim’s list

Personally I'm betting against it.

But maybe this will give a bump in case a real expert shows up. This is a nice thread anyway. An occasional bump is not a bad thing.

Ok so I have a pure bred heritage Delaware rooster over Plymouth White rock hens and a hen just hatched 6 chicks 4 are pure white and two are white with black skunk lines on the back. Sexlinked?

As Ridgerunner and Arielle stated, No does not work color sexing or feather sexing. No need to explain why- if a person can not under the first post, they will not understand the explanation.

I have a brahma that is black and silver. could I use her?
Blue laced red wyandotte over light brahma will work.

Blue laced red over dark brahma can work but you would have to read color on the chicks face and that may be a problem- I would shy away from the cross because identification may be difficult. If the chicks are black backed, it will be a problem.

When I purchased my Sex Link they said it was a Golden Sex Link. But I didn't see any reference to Goldens in your article, is that something new? She's actually mostly red with golden under tones.

I have the following Hens and was wondering if I bred any with my neighbor's RIR Rooster, if I'd get sex-linked offspring to propagate our flocks for layers:

Barred Rock
Black Australorp
Black Copper Marans (French)
Black Minorca
Buff Orpington
Columbian Wyandotte
White Leghorn

I am pretty sure I can do the following but not sure about any of the rest:

RIR x Barred Rock = BSL
RIR x Columbian Wyandotte = RSL
