Sex- linked Information

Pics
Whats your problem with the hatchery you used?  Why would you never use them again?  I would think that they would know the breed of the birds they sold you better than anyone else, after all they hatched them and most hatcheries know which breed their eggs come from. I would trust them before I would trust a buddy who said they might look like sex-links to me!
Here are pics from her Instagram that I believe are the chickens in question.

Any breed of bird (especially hatchery quality) can grow out to not look quite as the breed ought to. I tried to download Instagram on my phone to see your pictures but I guess my phone is too smart for me.

ETA: thanks bradselig for shaing her pics!!!

The second one could definitely be a badly colored Black Copper Maran. I am not familiar enough with Welsummers to say one way or the other on it.

I got them with a batch of BPR, when the started feathering out, I quickly noticed they were different. It took about 2 weeks of being shoved on the back burner for them to yell me they were (top) Welsummer and (bottom) Black Copper Marans. Welsummers can't be completely black chicks. They've been VERY rude since I pointed that out. Can't get them to answer back now. I know mistakes happen, I wasn't complaining or asking for money back or trades. I'd just really like to know what breed they are. Both birds are awesome, no matter what breed!

They are hatchery birds so I didn't expect greatness...both have green sheen to the backside also. Love them both anyway, I am just terrible with mysteries!

Em-- I have BCM and the top bird is fairly close. Marans can have feathered legs, though the English version does not have feathering. My first concern is the amount of red I see leaking beyond the neck hackles. (I don'thave any experience with the welsummers, sorry.)

Many look alike birds, especially from the hatcheries. Not dissing the hatcheries, just saying.

You may need to be patient until they are 6 months old and see if you get lovely eggs from these girls.

Thanks! I don't have a problem with all hatcheries either! We have already been planning our order for next year, from Mcmurray or Cackle.
I DO have 2 red sex link hens for sure. They are great tempered chickens! We will definitely get more sex links next spring!
Do you think they are both hens?
