Why is it that everyone is guessing #1 is a boy? Is it the slow feathering? It doesn't have any more of a red comb than #2
Anyone want to guess on this 8 week old SLW? I know the answer.I'm guessing from the featheringBut it would be nice to get some side-stance pictures. I love guessing for Wyandottes because they always seem to trip me up!

Ah see! You're rightOooh, I love when the lacing is clear like that. I'll say pullet just because my boys were MUCH more developed, especially in the comb, at 8 weeks.

She was very red for 8 weeks in comparison to other breeds I was keeping.

We have two young girls who are roughly 15 weeks. They are so small, and not even close to Dott development wise @ 8 weeks.
Good to know! She was beautifulThis is Liz, who I adopted at 3 years, just after she lost a bunch of tail feathers!
I think at 8 weeks the boys' coloring is clearly more mottled because they're about to start growing in the white hackle and saddles. At least, my hatchery boys looked really mottled, guess it could have been bad breeding

Those two girls looked similar to #1 in feathering at the same age though.
No, this line of SLW had small combs (and still do) but the other line did not. Also, have seen SLW with big combs at an early age turn out to be girls!Interesting! Though were their combs as big? You're about to persuade me that #1 could be a pullet![]()
