Kelly, I bet they're brothers, LOL. I know you stopped at Brown's; Kate just told me. Yep, we're related now!

It's a cutie, this one. Be interesting to watch it feather out. Then it might be up for grabs, LOL. It does have pretty fair foot feathering.

Its a cockerel for sure and it doesnt look too much like a frizzle. Does it have some frizzled feathers? The wings look mostly straight, computer is too slow to wait for pics all the time.

O I went back and saw the pics, the second pic it definitely looks to be a boy. Nice light blue color and I see the frizzled feathers now.

All cochins to my knowledge feather in slower than other breeds do. As far as the color in the comb I have never seen that on a female cochin of that age. But then again never say never. Huh? My one female cochin started crowing at a very young age, of course I didnt know what it was at first it sounded so funny till I saw her take the "stance".

Yes, the wing feathers that are coming in are turned upward. It's just starting to frizzle. Of course, it could be frazzled instead of a proper frizzle! You mean there's hope that it isnt a frizzle?

Oops, you were editing as I was posting, I guess. I do think it's a frizzle, especially since Kelly got one out of the same bunch that's one. I'm not a bit surprised that you say cockerel, either. What's interesting is that he isn't that much smaller than my standard breed chicks in the brooder, at least to my eyes.

no its a frizzle, I ammended my post after I looked at the pics again. I do no t think it is a frazzle, or curly. Who knows? maybe it is just 1/4 friz and if you got another lt blue female cochin you could get some real cutey babys.(mostly straight) Yeah right just what you need

which reminds me I had a black curly that never did grow out of the juvenile size and moved about twice as fast as all the other chickens. Then she died at a very early age (1 1/2 yrs)

Cyn, Looks to be a pullet. Here is a Cochin roo at a 2-3 weeks, those combs grow fast! He is the one on the right the pullet is on the left.

Wow, Christina, that really is a difference! Thanks for posting the pic. One thing I notice about bantams in the feedstore is that the cockerels are obvious fairly early on.
As far as the frizzle part, maybe a few of the wing feathers were just a little curly for some reason. (holding out hope here, LOL) My guineas feathers sometimes looked like that coming in, but they were just normal later on. Anyway, time will tell! The main thing that will determine it staying is boy or girl.

I agree Christina-my bantam cochins always have more comb and waddles are starting to be very pink by that age. Do you have a true side view photo with a pic of the waddles?
