Sex this Blue Cochin Bantam, Please!

I have cochin bantams and I have noticed when the feathers on the back are slow to come out it is a rooster. I think you have a rooster.
that has been the way mine were. I think this is a sexlink thing.

I know that usually applies, but since this is the first time with a Cochin, wasnt sure how slowly they feather. In some breeds, you can't go by that, so I brought this one to the BYC experts. Here is all I could manage with my camera in bsmt lighting. I have to get a camera with a low light setting!

I still dont know about those feathers, some of them look pretty straight!

My little d'Uccle has some crazy feathers coming in too , especially on his wings that stick OUT instead of flat. And his down is soooo thick! Maybe yours is just going through a stage or something. Hoping it's NOT a frizzle for ya

Well, if it's a girl and a frizzle, she will probably stay. If a boy, I may consider keeping him if he's smooth-feathered. If I managed to pick a pullet out of the mixed bantams bin, then my luck sure is better on the pullet-to-cockerel ratios this year.

Ok, I hope I dont offend anyone by posting this?

As an experienced Cochin Breeder for 16 or so years, I can tell you at 3 weeks is way to early to tell the sex. I have ha dmany birds fool me into thinking they were male or female and then when they matured more suprised me. Give it about 3 more weeks and youll see for sure what the sex of it is. And secondly, it is NOT a frizzle. Some Cochins feather in alot slower than others and they can look that way. I would bet $100 that its a smooth bird, as for sex, I would say pullet right now, but again, I think its to early to tell. Give it a few more weeks. Thats my $.02, dont know if its worth cashing in on.

Looks like a girl.... by that age my cochins had a large comb and waddles in comparision....

BTW... What's wrong with Frizzles???? I just read someone else post about being upset they got them???? Never had them but I think they are cute??? Is there something bad about em???
