What about the size alone? I wouldn't think a pea comb would stick up that high especially from the distance the pictures were taken.

Kind of... She sent me a picture of the mother hen, and she barely has a comb at all. In fact I thought she was one of the chicks at first:Agrees, that's a lot of comb for a young female.

Good to know, thank you! Yes, the mother is bbr, but the 2 roosters she keeps with the hens are both black.if they're all black breasted reds, then all of the females will look like that mother, and the males will be very vibrant red and black.
