I haven't read every post in this thread, so I may have missed an answer to this question. How much more slowly do Barred Rock caockerel's feathers come in?

I would say pullets however it may still be to early
I think Darth might be a pullet, but Kylo might be a cockerel.
Based on color alone (since that's all we can see, anyway): dark one in back is pullet, front is cockrel.
I'm guessing quite young and the comb hasn't really made an appearance, yet. I'm still thinking that ones a cockerel.
Wondering if Toad has cheeks-- could she be a porcelain D'uccle? Or a porcelain booted bantam?I have some barred rock babies that i need some help telling what gender they are. Chicks 1-6 are 2 weeks old, 7, 8 and 9 are 3 weeks old. chick 1 leaning towards rooster![]()

Still definitely a cockerel.
Can you do some closer photos? It would help. That first pic looks like one with bright white/contrasting barring (obvious cockerel) and 2 much darker, suggesting otherwise. But the next pic looks like 3 with bright contrast barring.Hello, I am new here and hoping that someone will please help me out. I'd recently ordered, and adopted 3 barred rock chickens. I could see that they were still quite young , all ready & boxed up for me to take home (very exciting!). Anyhow....they're home now, and I am posting a few photos by which I could appreciate the opinion of someone who is well versed in determining the age, and the sex of Barred Rocks. One little darlin' has a longer tail and is lighter in colour than the other two..... .![]()
The first two here have darker barring, and shorter tails....... so I'm wondering .... Question #1: Does this mean I get two hens and a rooster, or two roosters and a hen?
Question #2: About how old do they look ?
I just joined this thread out of curiosity because I raise/sell sexlinks with my three BR hens and 1 BCM roo , but am going to increase my barred rock flock with some hatching eggs at the beginning of Feb. Im hoping the info I've gleaned from this thread will help me sex them early on!
