Sexing Barred Rocks

Pics
Definite ROO.  Those saddle feathers are unmistakeable.  I have had my roosters start crowing anywhere from 7 weeks up to 7 months old.

Just trying to make 100% sure. He's gotta go back & I've got to find a replacement. Don't need him crowing!!

I will show you some pics my Bar Rock Rooster from 3 days old (3/17/13) to maturity, I bought him with 3 others and he was distinctive in markings and behavior. He definitely ruled all the others. I just love him! I am lucky he is so sweet! It's good to have a rooster, at first I was upset with having one as I thought I would have all girls that are so sweet. He is a big boy! He watches for predators and when in danger calls all the girls and they run to the coop and run that is attached. He calls to the girls that he found something good to eat and share all of the time. I have even seen him feed his girls. I think the most important thing with the cockerels is that you have a lot of contact with him. Talk to him and hold him (then you are taming him) the most important thing is do not be afraid of him. If he is bad (aggressive) with you or the hens keep a hose or water spray bottle near and squirt him and tell him BAD BOY! They learn very quickly they are intelligent! SO hear is my "Bell" that tuned into "Bill" Hope this helps! Kodi
