Sexing Barred Rocks

This is my 5.5 week old barred rock. Any ideas? I'm thinking pullet due to the dark leg wash (can't see) and the darker colours .

This is however my first barred rock so an expert opinion would be appreciated

Hi I posted photos of neck and saddle area of that helps with feathers. I know red comb and wad don't always mean cockerel, also, darker shades could imply pullet. Ive posted them at 3 and 4 months, got mostly pullet but now at 5 weeks what's the verdict?

Also, in one pic, can you see the blue ?? I just noticed it today.

This one looks like it might be a black sexlink cockerel. A five week old pullet, would not be that red in the comb.

Hi, I have moved from the Wyandcotte thread to this one as I'm told this is a barred rock (and a roo). New to keeping chickens and back yard chickens can you help me sex my lovely chick, worried I have a roo but nothing to compare it with.... And how sure can you be at 5 weeks??? Thanks

I think it is easier to see when you have a cockerel and a pullet next to one another, but the boys are more white than black in their barring. This one looks like male coloration to me, but I am in no way an expert. My pullets were all quite dark, mostly black, at this age. Keep a close watch on the comb and wattles.

I agree with elissamay and I'm not an expert either. I do have 3 barred rocks...all hens and they were much darker then yours...good luck!

Hi I am new to the forum and have my first batch of chickies. 2 older barred rock and 2 ameraucana and 1 olive egger rir x (rir x ameraucana). I'm not allowed roosters and was wondering if you can sex these be for me.
