Starting to lay eggs at 8 weeks is typical for Buttons, but I have had some that begin at 10 or 11 weeks. They'll probably start in the next month, especially with lots of light. Also, with only a few quail, you might not see much signs of mating, unless you watch them all day long, especially if they've just started

Would y’all tell me if I have two males? I tried the turning them upside down to check and the dark one has a bigger area than the silver (that’s definitely a male) they are in the same cage I was told they were male & female. They get along great I’m just not sure & really hope it’s male & female.

Not feather sexable. Sometimes you’ll get slates like that with some red near the vent, if they’ve been crossed to other patterns, I had one that got a few rusty feathers and was otherwise solid slate with no markings. But usually you can’t tell until they lay, or sometimes the calls. I haven’t had buttons in a while, but I think the females make the ha ha haaaaaa call.
The silver one does the male call the blue brown one doesn’t make any call currently just the low growling sort of noise. I’ll let them get older and watch them carefully thank you
