Howdy. We got button quail approximately 4-6 weeks ago. This whole time I have got ONE egg a day. I was told I only had ONE female so I didn’t think anything of it.

A few days ago I got two eggs, I didn’t think anything of it. However, the last 3 days I have got 2 eggs a day which now makes me wonder if I don’t actually have two females. Out of the 7 we own 5 I am 100% sure are males. However, this one in the photos is the questionable one. I had this one in with my female (all other males are separated into individual cages while we work on getting more females)

Please help. I find sexing them stupidly frustrating as they don’t do the white foam like our coturnix do

Picture is female

Since u do the foam search for coturnix have you noticed how they buldged up full of foam we'll have you noticed if they stop buldgeing from foam about before two years ?

The person we got her from had her and the other female in a cage with 7 other males so she’s probably very over mated :(
Yes I was thinking something like that but didn't want to implicate anything, give the females a long rest for a few weeks so there feathers grow and they look healthy also offer crushed egg shell to replinish there calcium sounds like they weren't taken care of well , they go in pairs mainly, I'm sure u have or will do your research good luck and always ask byc
