Sexing by size

Never heard of a different rump color. Glad it worked for you. I don’t have much experience with khakis, I’ve mostly had other breeds. Never stuck with one long enough to really know them, but I’m slowly switching to an Ancona flock, at least for drakes. Probably will keep my hens for a while yet. I really like them all.
I have never had any of those but have heard that they are super friendly and not skittish like a lot of the rest of them.

Well, the ducklings are about old enough to voice sex now. I didn’t get a good guess on numbers because of the size difference between the home vs shipped egg ducklings. My current guess is 4 Ancona female and 2 Ancona male. The others I think I have 4 boys 5 girls… but I’m not sure. I’ll have to catch them individually soon to figure it out by voice.

Hopefully you will end up with a lot of Hens unless you are wanting a drake flock also. I am still trying to rehome my 3 drakes on CL but so far no luck. My friend that was going to take them backed out on me. She is not sure when she will be moving to her new place and I don't want to keep them forever.

I’m actually planning to sell most hens except Anconas. And I enjoy duck meat, so drakes aren’t an issue.
I hope you find a good home for your drakes!

I was at our local Rural King this morning and had to resist buying two Anaconda babies. It took all I had but I already have 21 ducks and really don't need more. lol I am glad you can make good use of your drakes. I could never eat mine. It would be like eating my dog to me, lol.

I know, people think I’m callous. But while I love my ducks they are farm animals that I raise for food. I eat my extra buck goat kids too.
You should have gotten the Ancona. You always need more color in your flock 😂 (says someone with 39 ducks and 23 in the incubator)

I wasn't too sure of their personalities and I still have my 3 big drakes I need to rehome yet. Otherwise I was very tempted as you only have to buy two.

Thanks for my well wishes in getting rid of them. I posted it yesterday and have not heard a word yet. I do have a friend that eats them but I will use him as a last resort.

I’ve also read many people on here buy “straight run” from farm stores just to end up with only drakes. So probably a great idea to pass on them unfortunately.

I had a neighbor with a drake flock that I used to rehome drakes to. But now that food prices are up I eat them instead.
