sexing chicks at home?

I've been tought to use a lead fishing weight on a string and hold it over their back (where the heart would be). I don't know if it truly works yet, but on all the 'known' birds it did LOL! Even on people when you hold it over the wrist. I'd been told about it before but met some people that swear by it. We'll find out soon how accurate it truly is when my new ducklings mature
