Sexing chicks at one & half weeks?

From what I understand, no. The hatchery used methods like vent, and wing sexing only work within so many hours of hatching. Sex-linked chicks can be sexed by their coloring from hatch on. Other breeds are speculative at best. You're committed to waiting at this point. ;)

So far this has worked for me. At about 2-3 weeks tail feathers really start sticking out. Those that stick out are hens, others roos. Now, I just hatched out 18, 2 different batches. The first batch, now 3 weeks, all look like hens. The odds of all being hens - RARE, so we'll see. The others are not quiet 2 weeks and they look like all hens. So...I either have all hens are all roos!
