Sexing chicks one day old.

Hey is there anyway I can sex chicks as soon as they come out of the incubator?

There are several ways to do this. One is to only hatch sex links, like red sex links or black sex links.

Or, there are some breeds that you can usually sex fairly accurately at hatch by their coloring. Some examples would be barred rocks, welsummers, and any breed in the duckwing or silver duckwing coloration.

Then too there are autosexing breeds like crested cream legbars, bielefelders, etc, that are bred to hatch out different colors at hatch depending on if they are male or female.

Aside from these options, the only way to do it is to vent sex. That is a skill that takes a lot of practice, and shouldn't be attempted unless you are shown how to do it by a trained professional or a veterinarian, because if you do it wrong, you can kill or injure the chick. And even those who are very good at this and sex thousands of chicks can really only do it with 90% accuracy, so it's not foolproof.

In addition to what has already been said, some breeds can be wing-sexed at a day or so old. Other than sex-link breeds, the only really reliable method of sexing chickens is to wait until it lays an egg or crows (and that isn't even 100% since occasionally you'll find a hen that will crow). Do a search here in the forum for "wing-sexing", there's plenty of discussions on it.
