I have a roughly 5 month old Cornish cross that I decided to keep alive due to the lack of fat it has. They overall look like a cockerel but act a bit odd.
For two days (maybe a week and a half-2 weeks ago) it was crowing, the crowing never got better and sounds like the crow one of my hen does sometimes.
Combs and wattles grew very slowly, was one of the latest in the batch to grow them. Other chicks in the batch were crowing.
In the two days they did try mount hens but never managed. My cockerel tries to mount them
They haven’t crowed or made any cockerel noises since and completely ignore my hens. I decided to keep my cockerel in a pen for 2 hours with company to see if this chicken crowed or acted like a cockerel and they acted like a hen.
I’m a bit stuck on their sex.
