Are you talking about the light grey one? Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a band, and i don’t know when it lost it.I do believe that one is a cockerel
Well, the people and dogs and cats are ok, but we lost 4 ducklings (in addition to 7 chicks) so the lone duck survivor was raised with the chick survivors and probably thinks it’s a chicken. Even goes into the coop with them every night. I hope it’s not disappointed when the ducklings i bought (and will be hatching in the coming month or so) join it in their own duck enclosure. LolThat is absolutely horrific and tragic, I'm sorry. Hope everybody else is okay
Correct. I should have specifiedAre you talking about the light grey one? Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a band, and i don’t know when it lost it.
That's awful. All in all, though we were fortunate. It could have been much worse, as sad as i am to have lost the little lives i did.
That bastard!! Haha. Of course he would survive. But i am glad he did. I guess I’ll just have to order a few more hatching eggs unless someone close to me (Wisconsin) has legbar pullets they are willing to part with or trade for. I really liked the blue egg thing and was hoping for a basket that was colorful. However, of the older laying hens I have the one that pays her egg rent most consistently pays it in the most delicious and largest brown speckled eggs ive ever seen. I am not complaining.Correct. Due to the barring pattern, the grey one looks to be a cockerel.
Well if he's a good rooster (if you can have, or want roosters) and if he has the blue egg gene, him plus your brown layers should produce pullets with green eggs. That bastard!! Haha. I cannot have but if hes quiet and does not get us in trouble he can stay. Although i need a small flock so i cant imagine keeping any babies, id more likely sell them as hathching eggs but good to know.Well if he's a good rooster (if you can have, or want roosters) and if he has the blue egg gene, him plus your brown layers should produce pullets with green eggs.
Thats absolutely horrible! I an so glad you guys were safe and some of the babies made it outView attachment 4145338
Unfortunately, about a week after i posted we had a brooder/heat lamp accident and the brooder caught on fire along with the floor in the living room where they were being kept until the garage brooder was complete. Out of the 6 cream legbar chicks that hatched, we only found 3 alive once the fire was out. I presumed at the time that they were all female, if i can find the pics of the survivors right after the fire i will post them as well. These are the three i have left. I think 2 females but I’m wondering about the light grey one. Maybe not pure legbar? Or is this a cockerel? They are about 6 weeks now. View attachment 4145340View attachment 4145339
