Sexing Ducklings (Please check here first :D )

Pics
I thought females too at first but its a deeper raspyer honkish noise. It developed maybe a week after the Pekin started to quack. But then again the Pekins quack has changed as well. It it was a honk now sometimes its a full on quack. I guess we will see! They are pretty cute though! Even in this ugly molting stage!

I really, REALLY hope Wobbles is in fact a girl. She's nearing 3 weeks and she's juuuuust starting to lose the fuzz on her tail and wingtips (or rather, nubs) in prep for growing pinfeathers.

So of course, I was overjoyed to read the bit on female ducklings making a wide variety of noises, since I swear, she sings when she's happy! Usually when eating or gleefully attacking her arch-nemesis, my pillowcase. Just that one pillowcase. No idea why. But she certainly isn't monotone!

We'll have to get through the "sexing call ducks" thing together. Mine is 8 weeks (just bought her two days ago) and I'm realllly hoping Pippa's a girl.

8 weeks and you're still unsure? Man, the wait is the hardest part, isn't it? I got a ways to go. :p

Yep! I think she's a girl, but she's not very vocal. I think she's still a little scared with all of the new people and the new home.

Awww, poor cutie! Well here's hoping she comes around soon. ^^

I hope she does too. When I stick my arm in to change food or water, she hisses and runs towards it with her head down and tail all puffed out.

Yikes, sounds like the baby canadian goose I rehabilitated last year...and he was SUPPOSED to be scared of humans! I can see how a lone older duck would have some trouble adjusting to a whole new environment, though. Does she hiss when you bring her goodies like cantaloupe?

*sigh* any time I walk in the garage...

I don't wanna hijack this thread. Naybe we can continue on the call duck thread. Sorry everyone!
