Sexing eggs!

Adding an other layer to the learning curve/experimentation??? Ok, then! It would be great if she had some sex linked chicks to practice vent sexing on. IMO, that would be the best way to learn that technique!

I did not take your response as mean at all. We're all good. Typed responses are more difficult than conversation, yes? B/c facial expressions, gestures are missing, and there's not the active back and forth going on for clarification. Learning how to vent sex would be a great tool, but... I know I'm not ready to take that plunge yet (sorry... horrid un-intended pun!) I'm not even comfortable doing a digital vent check to determine egg status.

I don't think I would vent sex but some people here are very experienced. We are good. You are a very passionate person!!!

I'm setting some backyard mix eggs tonight (along with a couple other breeds), but of the mixes, I'm doing 4 very round eggs, and 1 pointy egg. As soon as that little pointy one hatches, I'm banding its leg with a blue zip-tie. Then I'll see if he grows up and crows.
3 of the round eggs came from the same hen. I can tell hers because she is the only one that lays a pretty rosy pinkish/brown colored egg. I very rarely get a pointy one from her.
