sexing golden comet chicks

Oh yes TSC, sell straight run sex links(golden comets) JUST PICK out the buff /red you will have all pullets, the yellow ones are roosters. Always check the tag, as they sell straight run, all pullets, and othes.

Funny some workers still dont know how to sex the sex link chicks, my friend get his golden comet pullet that way every year.

Now, I'm confused. I bought the same ones from TS. They were in two separate tanks. I got three of the striped ones and three of the yellow. Each was labeled "Assorted Pullets". Did TS get it wrong? Did I end up with three roos? I don't want three roos. I wanted six hens.

Todd

If labeled Assorted pullets, you got pullet of differents breeds.

I just posted the same question lol! We got 7 and they were all supposed to be gold and red sex link pullets. I am still a bit confused as to what is what, but I am thinking I may have gotten 3 roosters and 4 pullets.

They were listed as straight run golden comets.Iasked if he new which were pullets and he said he didnt...not a surprise. I didnt find out till after that you could tell by color. Now i have 2 roosters to get rid of. All they had were golden comets and ducks in the store in Augusta Me.

Yep, 2 roosters for sure, 4 pullets. Crazy think the worker would know. Great way to get golden pullets, but feel bad for the person buying all yellow one thinking they are getting straight run and hoping for pullets.

KNOWLEDGE of sex link can be a big help.
remember on black sex link the roosters have a yellow spot on their head.

I was in our TSC today (checking to see if they had any more bantams) and they had bins with red sexed link chicks. Funny as the one bin was red sex link pullets and they were all red. The mixed bin had red sex link straight run. There were red and yellow chicks in there. I thought the same thing of the person that has no idea what they are getting and getting all yellow thinking and hoping for pullets. I should of tested the staff just to see if they had any idea how to tell the pullets and cockerels.

oh no, please please tell me this is not true. i also got my chicks from tsc, the highly UNhelpful woman told me the ones i got were golden comet Hens! for sure 100%... theyre yellow. just like the yellows in the pic. they were All yellow. i have 4!!!!! roos? i am in a panic, here in va chicks must be sold as sets of 6! ( i took a chance and got 2 rirs straight run. i cannot have 6 roos. i work at a farm store and it is no wonder to me that ppl come to us vs tsc. we would definitly be able to keep straight which 3 kinds of chicks we have! about 4 other peop;le came in when i did and bought the yellow ones thinking they were in hens too. could they just be lighter? i m going to call them. when would they start crowing?
