Sexing/Guessing 4 week old Light Sussex chicks :)

Okay! Chicks are nearly 9 weeks old now and I have a fair idea which ones are for sure girls and boys but I’m stuck on 2 of them.

Itsy Spider - Cockerel (I love him, he’s the friendliest of the 8)

Nugget - ? Comb and wattles are bigger than my girls but smaller than my obvious cockerel. Some photos they look like a Pullet, others they look like a cockerel.

Bob - ? Bob is built different than all of the others, I’m leaning cockerel but not 100% sure?

Lucky beautiful birds! Bob is very good-looking.
Btw how do you find their egg production and broodiness?
Egg production is great, they started late compared to other breeds (about 30 weeks) but I was expecting that. Most days I get an egg each from them. Even though they started at the beginning of winter they’ve continued to lay consistently throughout (I’m in Australia).

We had one go broody (Nugget) and I put some fertile eggs under her and then a few days later had another go broody (Doug) but I gave her nothing, just kept trying to break the broodiness with no success, she was stubborn.

Nugget was a terrible mother, I think they’re just a bit too heavy to sit on eggs to be honest. She squashed over half of them including one day 19 egg and then when we had one hatch on day 20 she killed it within about 20 mins of hatching (the chick was fine and very strong and alert until then). I promptly confiscated her remaining 3 eggs but only 2 survived as she’d pecked the 3rd egg and busted the shell up too early.

I’ve decided I won’t hatch under them again and I’ll just leave it to the incubator from now on 🤣
