Sexing Mille Fleur d'uccle (more photos #6)

I'll try to get updated pictures. I am impatiently waiting and it seems like it is taking forever for theses little guys to feather out and give an inkling what they are. For sure they are adorable. The darkest one in the picture has more feathers and longer feathers on its feet/legs than the two lighter colored chicks.

Here is the link that I have subscribed to. Enter at your own risk this breed is addicting.

From what I see out of my new flock of 6, is that the darker chicks seem to be cockerels.

I mean come on.. is there any doubt that this is a 13 day old cockerel? lol!

So I am wondering since it has been some time since you posted this......were you right about the sex of your chicks? Is there a for sure tell on them when they hatch? I will be getting eggs soon that I am going to be hatching and would like to see if there are definate tells. I could definatly see the little comb on that little guy. So the girls had no comb? I will have to document mine closely. I already have a roo so I am hoping for girls. Lots of them. :) Oh yeah, and can these guys be feather sexed? Thanks for bearing with me.

He was definitely a HE. And best I remember the other was a pullet. I have hatched more since this and have tried different sexing methods. For a while I thought maybe coloring had something to do with it. Nope. I tried to sex them by their wings, but can never remember the rule of thumb, Somewhere you can find where it tells how to do that. Seems that didn't work either though. BUT.. if there is any hint of a wide looking comb... think boy. Also, cockerels tend to be more curious and stand straighter. I haven't hatched chicks in 2 years now :(. No real reason, besides lack of room for more chicks and my 4-Her is older now and into more things than just raising chickens. Usually, when I hatch eggs.. I get more cockerels than I need.

I have 2 mf D'uccle chicks 3 weeks today one of them is defiantly a boy already a huge come and different coloring form the girl. The girl have a black stripe on her eye and top of her head and is way darker and different color on her back but has the lighter color on her chest she's defiantly a girl im just curios if that's a way to sex baby mf d'uccle's? And both have feather feet and vulture hocks.

Well.. I've never had a D'uccle before. I handle him/her a lot. So when I'm spotted he/she resumes a perch (I lower my hand & he/she climbs right up.) Roo? (Had the same comb as my RIR pullets.. so I'm a bit confused)

The combs on these guys appear crazy early. I have 2 mille that are 10 weeks, but I still can't figure it out! One had bright comb appear at 4 weeks, the other one's was not so bright, and came a bit later, but has since caught up. One tries to fight all the time, the other is more calm and causious. They havent changed much in over 2 weeks, so I guess Ill jist have to wait and see....

I just hatched a mix of a partridge Frizzle Silkie and a Mille Fleur d'Uccle :) The previous chick from them is buff and frizzled, and this one is brownish. It has a tiny tiny comb. Super curious how it's going to look like in a few weeks.

How old does a d'Uccle need to be to make guesses boy/girl, based on the comb? (I know it's older than 1 day haha).
