You can vent sex button quail but you probably need a magnifying glass.

They don't have the 'foam gland' like coturnix, you have to look at the shape of the vent opening.

What does that look like for male and female then?

I have some photos on my website. The female usually deficates on you when you sex her so that usually is a good indicator. The male has a very small bumb near his vent but a smaller opening than the hen.
