I know Silkies are notoriously hard to sex this young, and I told myself I wouldn't post to the forum asking for opinions on their sex until they were at least 3 mos old, but I'm just so darn curious

I have read that you may be able to start sexing at around 7 weeks by identifying streamer feathers, width of comb, etc. but I must be really bad at this because I see people saying that they think one is a pullet based on her comb and one is a cockerel based on his comb, but they all look the same to me! :idunno

Would love opinions on the sex of my 7 girls/boys! Sorry, some of the pics are a bit blurry and my hand is in a lot of them (I had to hold a treat to get them to keep still). And sorry for my very messy coop roof. My Easter Egger has decided to spend the last few days hanging out up there

2. Peanut - This one is tiny - like almost half the size of the others

3. Cricket - This one is not as small as Peanut, but on the smaller side of the others

Thank you very much for the reply! Go figure the two smallest ones are the possible cockerals! Thanks again. I will definately keep an eye on them 😁

Way too early for Silkies. I have been known to give away 4 month old birds I was sure were males, only to get a message 2-3 months later telling me "he" just laid his first egg LOL. They lay an egg or crow, you know what they are. Once one starts crowing, the trick is to catch which one it is.

Lol, oh no! I was ready to send off for DNA tests, but my husband put the brakes on that plan, haha. Apparently, I went way over budget on the run and coop. Oops!
