Both look like Drakes to me..I used to raise Appleyard..My thoughts are Drakes.

You should have at least 4 ducks for the 1 drake. So, you could just get 3 more ducks. If you want more ducks, that would be good for him too.
You don't need a drake for eggs though.

They’re just really quiet. They don’t make noise when handled. I think because I have five children who have been cuddling them relentlessly since they were a week old.
