I'm so new to this sex link tread... but I have a question. I have a hen that had a white leghorn mother and a EE dad. The EE dad was white and black with some red on his sholders. Anyhow the hen I named corvette because she zoomed around so much as a chick. She is white with black spots... really cool looking chicken I think

she lays a white egg with just the faintist green tint to it. She has green legs. So my question... she's in with a pure black copper marans rooster... and I have an egg in the bator from her due january 24th.. is there anyway I can count on the chick being a sex link?? Or is it to hard to guess being I don't know what corvetts dads breeding is? Thanks!

You wont get reliable sexlinks mainly becuase of the Dom White from the White Lehorn . The type of EE roo you are describing is Split for both Silver and Gold genes. So breeding him to a Silver based hen like a White Leghorn who are usually Silver based extended black or birchin under the Dom White. So the pullets would be half silver based and half gold based and if your hen isnt showing any red leakage, then she should be silver based, but still carrying one Dom White gene from her moms side. So half of her offspring will be White patterned and half should be black patterned if by chance the sexlinkage was able to work its way into the mix, the white offspring would through off the ability to sex the chicks.

Long story short, No, dont count on it.
