Chicks which a head spot are males. Looks like a pullet to me, but I can see how it may be hard to see a head spot on her.
Thank you. I have 14 chicks total. Three are from buff Orphingtons and the rest are crossed, of the crossed ones 6 have the lighter head. I am not sure what I am going to do with so many males. That would be a cockerel, I've done this crossing quite a few times. Females are dark, with brown faces. The headspot is just extra large giving the white capped head. Not only the chick is sexlinked with headspot, but also due to silver.
I don't have pictures of this crossing on this phone, but my old one has pictures. I just can't use the older phone to post pictures anymore.
There's always the freezer. Extra cockerels are good for putting food on the table.Thank you. I have 14 chicks total. Three are from buff Orphingtons and the rest are crossed, of the crossed ones 6 have the lighter head. I am not sure what I am going to do with so many males.
I was already here.@MysteryChicken @LadiesAndJane @cherrynberry - hopefully someone can help you!
I know sometimes auto-sexing traits show up from certain mixes, but I’m not sure that BO X BR is one of them.
I was already here.
