Well, I've got to call it a night. My 9 year old DD is here with me and she's asking to be tucked in. Hopefully they'll keep the camera turned on so we can see them again in the morning. I love it when the little foals are all frisky. Goodnight, says my DD.

No. Just like in human births, the placenta needs to come out naturally....its not good to pull on it as it can cause heavy bleeding and complications for a long time to come..in bad cases it will kill the mare (or person for that matter).

one of the reasons they tie it up is so the horse doesn't step on it and yank it out accidentally causing the mare to bleed out of control. It needs to come naturally like jamie said.
