i seriously doubt she would have been able to get him out on her own. he is the biggest kid she has ever had... and he had both front legs against his body. harley tore pretty bad too. it took a lot of serious pulling to get him out!

If she tore pretty bad, didn't or doesn't she need to be sticked up?

When I had my son (9 1/2 lbs - 22 1/2") and daughter, they came so fast I didn't have time to stretch, so I had pretty bad tears that required stitching.

I'm betting that Harley has already been taken care of

if she had tore any more, we would stitch her, but since the tear is on the upper part of her whoo haa, it should heal on its own with out stitches. i say 'tore pretty bad' because she has never tore before, the kids have never been big enough to tear.
in my experiance, goats heal really fast from tears like this. the only doe we have ever had to stitch up was my nubian doe who tore almost 3 inches . harleys tear is about 3/4 of an inch

Last night was the first night in weeks that I slept with my laptop closed. What an interesting experience this has been to become attached to a goat, by way of the internet, and part of a community that gathered around that goat and her human in order to witness the birth of her kids and somehow, over the distance, provide support.
I know BYC is all about providing information and support, but this was something else...

It is amazing isn't it. Everyone pulling together for Harley and Shadow and all of us. I have 3 goats and I spent more time watching Harley than them. But believe me they let me know it. LOL. Thank you Shadow so much for sharing this experience with us. It was awesome.
