Hubby's surgery went fine, although it longer than expected.

I can't help thinking that coop size isn't quite as important in many circumstances as is suggested.

Further to that, you may be interested to know that the EMI told me that if the chickens have a choice and they choose to crowd into one or another coop, that's fine; I don't have to police them to ensure no coop has more occupants than its official capacity.

Good morning X Batts. Puzzle me this been getting 4 eggs for a month at least.
7 last night.

This is Lima. As a reminder, she's the hen who looked at deaths door when I first went to the allotments, fought off a goose, goes everywhere at a trot, isn't the slightest bit wary of me and insists on sleeping next to Henry.
Henry gave the bedtime call and headed off the for old coop followed by Matilda. Lima headed into the new coop a few minutes later and jumped on to the roost bar as did a few others waiting for the appropriate moment to enter the coop (This liking to perch outside the coop door before going to roost bodes well for Manue's other halves build.) I sat on the perch next to Lima for a while chatting away and I must write I found it hard leaving her there on her own. This just leaves Henry and Matilda in the old coop. If Lima continues to roost in the new coop on the outside roost bar then I'm going to relocate Henry and Matilda once its dark and see how that goes.

Henry and Matilda. Matilda has become my rest shadow. If I sit, Matilda makes her way over and stays close. Henry has started to do this too. There are no signs Henry is trying to entice or bully Matilda away I'm pleased to write; it's a problem I've had before, and I can give both a stroke from the chair.
Matilda and Henry are moulting.

Smudge has just one tail feather again. So bet no fertile eggs just now.
Henry has that look too.
DH just walked in with his hat backwards. Said was to go under the house re enforce a step.

Henry's tail feathers were the first to go. He's not really interested in any of the hens at the moment.

The 8x8 coop with the least amount of hens has the most amount of arguing. 6 hens, 5 pullets, a rooster and 2 young cockerels. 4 of the hens are bulling the teenagers. Another 8x8 has 20 hens, 2 roosters and 4 teenagers, one pullet came over from the previous mentioned coop.
