Not shooting at but just to scare them off
For us Dutchies, it so strange that lots of people have guns where you live. Here they are completely forbidden except for :
  • police and people with a licence to hunt (very difficult to obtain) ,
  • members of a shooting association who have a registration for proper behaviour and
  • collectors of old guns (historic) with a licence.
People who have a gun (secretly) are in general mafiosi (drugs) or other kind of criminals.

According to the weather people it was 10C today. It didn't feel like it. Grey mostly so none of the sunshine we've had recently.
Mum rat is back.:(

I grew up in the Appalachian mountains. As a young boy I was taught to respect firearms and the animals we hunted. Never shoot anything you won't eat. From the age of 5 to 8 I carried a bb gun whenever we went grouse hunting. Once I earned the trust of my father I could carry a 410 that wasn't loaded. Gradually I earned the right to carry a loaded firearm in the woods. My daughters don't hunt but my oldest shoots skeet and my youngest prefers to go to the pistol range. Above all respect the firearm and if you hunt then respect the animal.

I may have to change Stupid's name. His flock was foraging near the garage yesterday when a Mexican eagle did a low flyover. He saw it before I did and alerted his flock. They ran for cover nearby. No harm. But just prior to that he picked a fight with Cholo who is easily 3 times his size. 🙄
Good job spotting the eagle and calling the alarm, Stupid!

Sounds oppressive.

Sounds oppressive.
Nope, sounds safer.
Not much people get killed by firearms here. Stabbing accidents, kicking and fist fight are more common violent acts if things get out of hand , but they are less lethal.
The police is not trained to suppress. There main task is to catch criminals, keep things safe and help people who got into some kind of trouble.
I’m not saying they are always doing the right thing. But in general they are okay.

Police an gun tax:
