Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

@Shadrach , I want to let you know I discovered this thread fairly soon after you started it, back when you were welcoming new followers to the thread. The thread title caught my attention immediately, knowing the hellish existence caged battery hens live. My intention was to read through/get caught up on all the posts. But instead, I got further and further behind until I gave up hope on catching up. (All the beautiful and photogenic tax photos people were posting slowed me down too!)

Anyway, now I pop in as often as I can, but the reason for this post is to also offer a slightly delayed congratulations on your Educator badge. As all the others have said, yes exceptionally well-earned and deserved.:thumbsup

Two and a half hours today. I got held up with social stuff again that a few weeks ago would have happened in the evenings but what with the longer days and not leaving the allotments untill gone 8.30 people stuff has to be fitted in during the day now. I don't know how my family and friends put up with it.:love

Mainly overcast but it stayed dry. Everything seems to be on steroids except me and keeping up with natures spring rush is a losing battle.

Henry was straight in the bath on being let out. Strange how he never looks clean. We have things in common do Henry and I.:D

Fret is a step further down the broody road. She's puffing up a bit when approached by the other hens. I spoke to C about it and said it is my intention to let Fret sit if she wants to. No objections were mentioned. I think the chances of her hatching are low if she goes for it, but if she does she'll hatch Lightbars.
I miss the whole broody experience. I know I was forever swearing about it on By Bobs thread but....

Thank you. I remember you joining. It seems a long time ago now.

@notabitail has been working their way through By Bobs thread. When they've liked a post it shows up on my alerts and I go and have a look. This is great for me because there are usually pictures of the tribes from Catalonia in the post, often pictures I've looked for on my hard drives but not been able to find. They're there somewhere in amoungst over five thousand pictures.:th

I was writting about closed fist feeding a while back. This is me giving Notch a few treats while I inspected him.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one looking for photos on who knows how many folders on who knows how many drives. I have 2316 photos on my phone already :th
Do you mind if I join your thread? I'm planning to read it after finishing Bob's but maybe I will finish yours first after Bob's since yours is shorter.
You have inspired me to let the chickens in the part of the house I'm allowed to let them in.

Your thread reading fortitude is staggering. :D Of course you can join but please, finish By Bobs thread. He's such a lovely man and his thread is one of the best things to happen to BYC imo.

I'm definitely going to attempt to finish both threads. I should now have plenty of reading material to keep my brain pegged while the chickens free range or demand mealworms.

I need to know: what rules does this thread have?
My personal understanding: the only rule is that you need to pay tax (chicken picture, preferably rooster) if you are off topic, i.e., non-chicken related posts.

It is a great complimentary to Fluffy butt thread. It almost feels a bit more academic for lack of a better word. In summary this thread is really really awesome with lots of talented minds offering different perspectives.
