Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

Shad wants chicken photos!
Here is my tribe. Can you tell who is who from the description in my signature?

Is Alice, the Araucana, the crested one in the middle?

(I see your profile says Australia, so I'm assuming your Araucana needs to have a crest and a tail, unlike the US ones that are supposed to have ear tufts, no tail, and no crest. Having the same breed name with such different standards can get horribly confusing!)

I put Bumble out in the run and he danced a little for Sky and Laserbeak. He walked around a bit after that and Laserbeak was following by his side. I went to go through some boxes (we are clearing out the garage). When I came back he was standing by himself. The girls were quite interested in trying to eat the buttons on my jacket. I will leave him outside with them for most of the day. If he goes, I would prefer he spends his last moments with his flock.

Yes, and I’ve done it with my kids and dogs and chickens alike. It’s funny to me to look at it from a non-chicken keeper perspective to hear someone say they’re hoping to see a certain kind of poop. 😁

Here are some chicken pictures for you, Shad. It’s been so cold lately these girls mostly just sit around in the covered area of their run, staying warm as best they can. I threw some scratch in there to break up the boredom.
Oh, lovely tax!

I know you can buy bandaids infused with colloidal silver that promote faster healing.

How did you find using it on your burns/ wounds? Did it heal noticeably faster?
Healing in 4 days is pretty impressive. I wonder how it would go on intractable leg ulcers and such in the elderly?

How do you find it helps if taken internally?

I promise these are my last questions on this Shad. I am interested in personal experience here. I will Google general info on colloidal silver after this. Promise!

Tax is due I expect!

Brand new plumage.

She did look rough didn't she. Nice bit of tax though.

The hen in front in the first picture is the hen who is sick. She's more active now that the lice are gone and her bum is a bit cleaner.I'm going to have to trim some feather to make a proper job of cleaning her up. The hen next to her arrived in the same group. I think these were two of the first Ex Battery hens to come to the allotments.
The sick hen still makes sure she gets her share of the "nicer" food and in the past couple of days she's spent less time sat by me close to the chair and more time foraging. I've been checking her crop each evening and while it's certainly not empty, it isn't bulging full like most of the others.
Anyway, she's eating and even does a bit of a half run and flap from time to time.
