Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

@LaFleche mentioned in an earlier post about the unusual poop reported from battery hens.
I'm a poop inspector and I've seen poop here that is quite alarming.
A few samples.
Lots with very runny urates.
Lots of very light brown cecal poop.
There is such a range it is very difficult to tall what is normal.

I can tell you from my time at fair that the super runny white ones usually are super stressed, super hot and drinking a lot, or both.

Some of those look great! And some look like there's been a lot of water consumed.

But that's also not a guarantee. Just that those are usually what's squirted out on the show table and on the kids holding birds in line

I would agree with you. It's definitely not hot. A couple are drinking more than normal but not enough of them to acount for the amount of poop like that and I think it's stress due to overcrowding.

Noneof those look great to me. There are couple that look reasonably solid but they should dry out, unless it's cecal, enough to pick up in one piece. The solid ones just disintegrate.

Did you deworm them yet (tapeworms too)?

Niether of these have been looking the full ticket but the one in front has been looking a bit better than she was. Both are from last years intake.
Most of the Red Sex Links and the Golden Comets are incredibly friendly creatures. Very hard not to love them.

I love my RSL, Ann Peebles, or more affectionately Peebs :lau She has such a personality! She’ll sneak up behind you and peck at your shirt, scratch on your pant legs, and have a full blown conversation.

You can see her RIR sister Dionne Warwick in the back. They’re my terrible twins since their other 2 sisters passed.
