Same here, when we (the group and I) lost our much younger, almost five year old head male. Can’t imagine what it would have been like for the hens if they were together for even longer.
The remaining senior hens have yet to recover from his loss. His offspring were quite the pair, and worked relatively well together. There was peace, but the group’s loss was still fresh. The peace was lost when the head rooster position got taken by a three year old male, that joined this group after his hens died. I rather not go into detail in this thread, (due to how long the post will be, for starters) unless Shad says that it’s ok
