I've been in Bristol with the eldest.
In the second picture you can see an odd looking high metal table on the left. There are four of these in this market area. I think there are 16 in total in Bristol. The expression to hit the nail on the hean comes from these odd looking table that are in fact called Nails. Merchants used to gather around these nails to strike a bargain and when a bargain was struck they both struck the Nail.
