I noticed the Hen Health sections advised using DE in several places

Their information was on the paltry side. It should have said, "Go to BYC and search for threads on your problem. Then ask questions, and you will get a lot more information and advise."

Just FYI I do not use DE anymore no big reason just do not need it.

Pretty neat showing how the incompletely feathered chicks lose heat and the adult loses most of her heat through her face.

That is like humans, we lose most of our heat through our scalp.

That's Ivy. I bought her from a fodder store when she was a pullet, so I only know what they told me. She's part silkie, part GLW and part Brahma. She's two and a half (ish) and she likes to pose for the camera. She's at the bottom of the pecking order (which is more like a pecking circle at my place). She's the tamest of the hens and is comfortable hopping up on the arm of the chair and sometimes my lap if there's a bite of apple to be had. She likes to be broody but hasn't yet felt the urge this season, although it's been a mild summer so far.

Here she is a couple of days ago when it was a bit warm.

Don’t worry I recognize the problem. I still haven’t finished my drainage project and today I am too lazy and am just sitting with the chickens in the sun.
My lot really love the sun!
