The problems just keep on coming.
I've been telling the grey ones that they need to be miixing with the red ones because they're getting the reputation of being unsociable. Some rather unkind person went so far as to call them racists and when I go on BYC and mention that similar breeds like to stick together some people tell me I'm not just delusional, I'm horrid as well.
I don't mind being horrid but this would require some serious photo shop skills.

Just to show willing bless thier little blind spot top knots they went off to mix a bit. They were back as a group 15mins later hanging around the feed tray.

These leaves on the low left side of the picture look like milk thistle to me.

I get looks when I call my quail racist and my sheep segregated by choice.

I think it's a mix of safety in numbers and knowing that if they all look alike, it's hard to pick any of them out

but does a chicken know what it (itself) looks like? Are they self-conscious? If they look in a mirror, do they think that's them self, or another chicken? Anybody ready any study of that?

Shad, did the bantam Catalonia tribes not mix with the Marans based ones? You recently posted a pic of a girl who you said was a cross between bantam and Marans, so there must have been SOME mixing. (BTW, she looked like a Xena Warrior Princess of a hen in that pic).

My lot had plenty of roosting space. 9 on the top rail was fairly comfortable but some nights there'd be as many as 15 up there. No~one could move & if anyone sneezed someone fell off! Most of mine snuggle up ~ even in summer. Beatha is the exception.

That is a striking color pattern on the three gals at the bottom left corner of the picture! What kind of chicken are they?
