Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

yes that's right. 70 years on the throne. She's a real trooper. Health issues are kicking in now though. Losing Philip and getting Covid both took a heavy toll I think.

Maybe one of the chicks can be called Elizabeth :)

The older I get, the more I admire her. She's always had a strong focus on charity and I think she's worked harder for the greater good than any of her predecessors.

feel very much the same, MJ. She has set a wonderful example of service & self~sacrifice. Pity about her kids. Apart from Anne they're pretty much hopeless. Apologies to any Brits who feel differently.

I would say she's alright for a queen like the present pope is alright for a pope, but that doesn't make me change my mind about royalty or religion 😁.
You're tax free for life on this thread.:love
Well, I used to be a rabid republican but having seen the sad & sorry lot who pass for our parlimentarians I'll take a queen like Bess any day of the week. She's always been dignified, even when her kids were less than royal, & has really tried, in so far as her position allows, to be one with her people. She really went up in my estimation when I 1st learned she served in WW11. She didn't have to. Her parents didn't want her to but she served as a mechanic. She really has a servant heart & I think that is admirable. Our pollies on the other hand....:he I reckon we should just stop paying them! :old
Good grief. A bunch of Royalists have broken out on my chicken thread.
If you all wouldn't mind forming an orderly line behind the wooden structure below I would be most appreciative.
You may of course avoid the seperation of head from body by paying treble tax and signing this document which apart from all the sub clauses you needn't bother with, which states you will accept nor worship any higher power by birthright.

Thank you all so much for your cooperation.

Did you know they are quit flighly/skittish?
Yes I did; I call it predator-awareness and view it as an asset for a free-ranging flock :D
I thought 3 broodies in one nest was too crowded.
On that topic, there was a 1st for me yesterday: before I went off to get the Braekel eggs I poop-picked the coops, and in the coop where the broody had parked herself (in everybody's favorite nest box, of course :th) I found the dominant roo sitting on the roost just in front of her, and, in the other nest box in that coop, my ex-dom (and avatar) Sven squeezed in next to Janeka, who's a fairly chunky Welsummer.

I think Sven had been sitting where his son now was, and he thought he'd hide there when Chirk came in. So I was presented with two large fluffy butts packed compactly into a nesting box that either one would fill ordinarily. Both boys took the opportunity to exit with pride and dignity intact, one via the door and the other via the back. And Janeka laid an egg now she could move again :gig

happily :D
So will you be ignoring the extra long bank holiday and all the events planned for it on principle then?

I will and I'll be moaning about the reduced transport arrangements, the shop closures and all those kids and parents cluttering up the countryside and a few more things besides.:p
Why these people can't just have a bit of cake with a candle stuck in it like everyone else is beyond my comprehension.

We have one of "those" people who recently moved into one of the houses with a back garden adjacent to the allotment. Apparently she isn't happy with the fact that there are animals at the bottom of her garden. There is now a smart new fence at the bottom of the property.:D
The birds were there first that NEW neighbour can move on.
Nice about the fence ;)
