Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

I'm home at last.:wee
This is the coop. It seems sturdy enough. I've rolled it around, dragged it, and upended it over and over to move it and nothings fallen off or broken yet.
We carried it to just outside the chicken coop run today. I'll get it through the allotment fence tomorrow on my own without much trouble. I may even get it through the coop run gate on my own tomorrow.

I guess you can see now why it won't blow away in a storm and why predators don't bother trying to get in!

I gave my first public talk on chicken keeping this week. Eleven people which was apparently a good turnout. I'm going to be doing another at my elder sisters group in June.
I did okay. Lots of questions at the end.
I love that you are doing that. Maybe you will convert a few people to not buy eggs or meat from animals that are not kept well.

congratulations! :clap

Well, I have made the difficult decision to have this scissor beak chick euthanized. I thought the mash was working, but despite her enthusiasticly pecking at it, she's not actually getting any down. :(
Thats very sad. I don't think you have any choice. If she can't eat that's about it.
:hugs
