Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

The real test will be whether Maggie eats it when she molts. You may remember she is the one who stops eating commercial food when she molts and will only eat what she forages for.
I'll be interested in this too. I make sure moulters get extra helpings of mealworms because they need more protein to make the new feathers. No-one here ever refuses live mealworms, unless they're at death's door.

the conservatives have that effect on me too, but I think in this context you mean the preservatives :D
Yes thank you for pointing out. My English is far from perfect and I got it mixed up. In Dutch we use the name conserveermiddelen for preservatives. And conserven for conservatives.
I don’t have any problems with most plain conservatives. The prepared canned dishes are something I have to avoid.

I don't know Dutch at all, so you're way ahead of me! I was referring jokingly to our beloved leaders ;)

The allotments are very quiet currently.
I know a couple who are dissapointed in what grew; a lot didn't.
Perhaps some will have learn't that even a small allotment needs quite a lot of care and that means time. Spending an hour or so once a week isn't going to hack it.
It's been a challenging year weather-wise; not nearly as bad here as poor Penny has had to endure, but excess rain, or heat, or both at different times, have not been ideal growing conditions for annual crops methinx. But maybe some of the allotment holders are just using it as therapy rather than a serious attempt to supplement their diet...?

You shouldn’t have voted for a canned government.
I wish I could can them! ('can' in the sense of stop)
The trouble with modern so-called democracy is we get a 'choice' between two bad options, once every five years. Peaceful removal from office is about all that remains of the core concept, and the news is that's under threat.

tax for political trash: two roos, living in harmony :D

I just got some sad news 😢
The local breeder who I get my hatching eggs from for my plymouth rocks has passed away. He was a true gem and a great asset to the breeds he was committed to. We have such a small pool of truly great breeders in the country, his loss will be felt profoundly.
One day I hope to contribute as much to the community as he did.

We are on the other side of the possibility to choose a political party. We have over 20 to choose from. Our government is a combination of 4 different political parties. : liberals, liberal democrats , conservatives, Christian’s . A hell of a job to get a consensus for a government.
Fascist, anti-foreigners, extreme liberal, working class party, socialists, pro animal, anti discrimination and greens (environment) are not in charge this term.

Some news about Kraai. I let her free range with the flock. A small but harmless encounter with the chief (Ini mini) was all that happened. She went back to her own run after 35 minutes. Good girl👍.
