Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

Don’t forget having and abusing power. This is not just about being rich.
That's how they can abuse so much all it takes with a lot of people today is bucks and they will do almost anything.

So having money gives them too much power they can pay to break promises and contracts very easily, I've seen it happen here on every single level

Yep, he's still sleeping there. It's a double edged sword on which one could balance a world beating prevarection constest.:lol:

One, I think he finds the pop door on the new coop a bit on the small side. He didn't appreciate it when I told him he's got a big arse.
:gig:lau
Two, I'm not delighted with the space in the new coop for the number of hens.
Cuddly though Henry is, the coop suddenly shrinks to half size when he's in there.:D
:D
I had assumed there would be fewer hens by now. That hasn't been the case.
My main priority now is to improve the ground in the run and provide some entertainment in the such a perches and stuff to climb on.
And, get the small coop out of the run so I can fix it if practicable.

When it stops raining...

I dodged the rain again today. The weather forcast for today read yesterday was well off. It was supposed to be dry with a 5% chance of rain and a moderate South Westerly wind.
I got invloved in a discussion with C on my way to the allotments. I walk right passed the house. Even so they got an hour and three quarters out.

That’s a bummer, Shad! My family has a nasty virus rhat is NOT Covid… maybe RSV. I was just on doxycycline for a full seven days and my sinuses did not improve one bit. For me, viruses tgat hit my sinuses turn into bacterial infections… Something about my anatomy. Not sure if I need another round or to wait it out. Hubby ia coughing so hard it makes him puke. Just call us the fun bunch.
I hope you have a little honey that so helps tame any coughs I get 😘

I'm interested in the shades of democracy. Even with Australia's high voter turnout, we have problems (ongoing human rights abuses for one - we've been censured by the UN for more than a decade). A while ago we looked at Switzerland and - I think it was Finland? Or was it Demark? Anyway, both had very interesting approaches to participative/direct democracy. The Swiss vote on all sorts of stuff, but only if they want to.
I would like to see a government that didn't demand all these luxuries they constantly get and all their money deals.
A good group of people that would concentrate more on peace and the good of the people would be my wish...

I always was a dreamer and this will never happen or at least not in my lifetime

We've had rain for most part of the day and it's still going

This looks amazing 👏
What a lovely life they have and it's all down to you :thumbsup

The one I was particularly worried about has been looking a lot better recently.
Most are at one stage or another moulting and some just look sick because of this.
Glad to hear. I have a sick one. It’s Lucky, the five and a half year old blue laced red Wyandotte. She’s one of my biggest and probably fattest girls. Lately her abdomen got crazy, swollen and I was able to draw fluid off of her. I pulled a 50 cc And the poor girl continued to drip for over 14 hours after that! I was worried the shock might kill her. However, she made it and as of right now it does not have a swollen bum. She does have a slow crop and I’m trying to help her with that. Obviously, ascites and slow crop are signs of something else, but I’m trying to help her be as comfortable as possible. If we can get her crop moving again, she might have a little more time. In addition to the watery poop in this video, I saw her do a couple small real poops when I was working on her crop earlier today.

There is as I have written before a Whatsapp allotment group. I have been very reluctant to join. I have never been invited to join.
I've been having some discussions with C; reality checks one might call these discussions. There is a general lack of trust in C on the group and the group chat has been for some time now C ranting and getting little or no response.
I have suggested that perhaps C is approaching the communication problems in the wrong manner.
The most recent discussion has been the state of the run. It's going to cost money to sort out and C doesn't want to spend any of their money or even what's in the allotment fund on the chickens. Apparently the allotment holders are in part responsible for the general upkeep and that includes the chickens and the geese. C says they won't contribute.
A couple of days ago desperately needing woodchip which it looked like I was going to have to pay for, I said to see get some donations from the allotment holders and if you can't do it then let me have a go. To reach the allotment holders I need to be in the Whatsapp group. I joined yesterday. I wrote a post explaning a bit about the situation and asked for donations saying I would match whatever anyone cared to donate. I have £40.00 of donations given to me at the allotments and a further £160.00 promised from groups members in the chat group. It's amazing what a few heart tugging chicken pictures can do.
:D
