Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

I think we would be out of luck. Ac would take all the Solar power. I'm hiding in the house because it's almost 90f and wild fire smoke. The humdity is low though 40%
If you build something like I did (see link above) you don't need air con. It was lovely and cool at 100F+ outside and warm in the winter at below freezing. Granted it is built from natural stuff but to run it was very energy efficient.

Thank you been a few days. As we age things may hot harder.

I seem to be lucky and don't get most of the bugs that my family and friends get. Covid did catch me out but I'm still here.:p Glad you're over it. Being sick at senior age is crap.

This is the plot that the Russians have.
One of the things that has always puzzled me about BYC is for example, when people have rooster problems they listen to the advice (usually kill it) from the people who haven't really solved the problem; just got rid of it.
I try to take advice from those who can demonstrate they have experience and an end result that I can aim for. The women of the couple who have the plot in the pictures below would seem to know what she's doing, so I watch, listen and hopefully learn.
This seems to me to be a maxed out productive plot. No raised beds, everything grown from seed, no commercial fertilizer and organized well and planted more or less at the right time of year. It's a big plot.

We have fire ants, so kneeling on the ground to weed and tend to the plants is not an option. We never had raised beds in Vermont, growing up, but we also did not have fire ants.
